![]() Realistically you can take the skill set with experience and move over into law enforcement, the FBI, and federal intelligence jobs fairly seamlessly with some education and retraining. There are plenty of contracting gigs out there at the moment. TL dr - your unit will have a short list for you to pick from. ![]() If you transfer to a different unit, your CLANG (Control Language, typically the first foreign language the Army tracks for you) will generally be fine, but your unit won't send you to train a language they don't officially need. Some languages are not needed much in the Army (like Japanese) and some are particular to specific units (Spanish). If you are in a Korean slot and want Japanese or Spanish, you probably aren't getting it. you are in an Arabic slot and want Korean). Languages are assigned to a specific paragraph and line number (slot) so you can ask to be internally changed into a slot coded for a different language (e.g. My old unit had slots for four languages, and enough openings that you could have any one of those four that you wanted. Your unit MTOE/UMR will have the breakdown for each language the unit requires you can only get sent to DLI for something the unit needs. Do not answer n00b questions on the main boards.
